State of Qatar Participates in Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona

The State of Qatar is participating in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from March 3 to 6, 2025, under the theme “Converge. Connect. Create”. MWC is one of the world’s largest events in the communications and information technology sector, bringing together industry leaders, experts, and policymakers to discuss the future of digital technology and the opportunities to enhance global connectivity and digital innovation.

The Qatari delegation at the event includes representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Qatar Tourism, and the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar). Through this participation, Qatar aims to highlight investment opportunities in the digital sector, strengthen its position as an attractive hub for advanced technology and investments, explore new investment prospects, and build strategic partnerships with leading global companies.

The conference is expected to witness the announcement of a significant partnership between the State of Qatar and the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), which will enhance the country’s position in the digital economy and transformation sectors.

This year, the conference focuses on six key themes shaping the future of the ICT sector: “5G Inside,” exploring the evolution of 5G networks; “Connect X,” highlighting IoT solutions; “AI+,” focusing on advanced artificial intelligence applications; “Enterprise Re-invented,” reflecting how organizations are adopting new technologies; “Game Changers,” paving the way for rapid digital transformations through innovations like quantum computing, extended reality, and AI; and “Our Digital DNA,” emphasizing sustainability and digital inclusion.

Commenting on Qatar’s participation in MWC 2025, Mrs. Duha Al Buhendi, Director of the Digital Society and Digital Competencies Department at MCIT, said: “Our participation in MWC 2025 in Barcelona reflects Qatar’s commitment to advancing digital innovation, accelerating digital transformation, and building a sophisticated digital economy. MWC serves as a platform for major global companies to showcase their latest innovations and future technologies in smartphones, communications, digital infrastructure, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence. The Qatari delegation will have the opportunity to explore the latest developments and discuss potential collaborations with leading companies in the communications and IT sector. Additionally, delegation members will engage in intensive meetings to discuss the latest trends and challenges in the industry and explore new strategic partnerships that enhance Qatar’s innovation ecosystem and digital economy.

MWC 2025 in Barcelona reaffirms its position as one of the world’s largest events in communications and digital technology. The previous edition attracted over 101,000 participants from around the globe, along with more than 2,700 exhibitors and partners representing 205 countries and regions. The conference also witnessed wide participation from various industrial sectors, with related industries accounting for 59% of attendees. Additionally, over 2,600 journalists and analysts covered the event’s discussions and innovations. The 2025 edition is expected to be even larger and more significant, providing extensive opportunities for collaboration and exploring the latest technological advancements that will redefine the digital future.
