  • ‘Customs e-Mazad’ is a new innovative fully digital platform developed to manage customs auctions in Qatar effectively and efficiently.
  • The platform will enhance operational efficiency at the General Authority of Customs by fully automating the customs auction process, reducing storage costs, shortening the time required to auction items, as well as increasing the frequency of auctions and the volume of participants.
  • Accessible to both Qatar residents with a valid QID and local businesses, ‘Customs e-Mazad’ offers a user-friendly experience for browsing goods, placing bids, and completing transactions securely.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through its TASMU Smart Qatar Program, and the General Authority of Customs (GAC) have announced the launch of the digital platform ‘Customs e-Mazad’, a new smart solution designed to manage the customs auction process in a digital and integrated manner.

Launched at an event celebrating International Customs Day, marked annually on January 26, this new customs auction platform reflects Qatar’s commitment to digital transformation and the delivery of the Digital Agenda 2030, which seeks to establish a world-class digital economy and foster innovation in government services, in line with the broader goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Developed by TASMU Smart Qatar in collaboration with the General Authority of Customs, ‘Customs e-Mazad’ provides a comprehensive upgrade to the customs auction process, replacing the current manual system. The platform will enhance operational efficiency and reduce the General Authority of Customs’ storage costs by accelerating the sale of unclaimed goods, increasing the frequency of auctions and broadening participation. The platform will also be fully integrated with key national systems—such as warehouse and financial systems as well as the National Authentication System (Tawtheeq) and Al Nadeeb Clearance System to deliver a streamlined, secure, and efficient experience for all users.

Commenting on the launch, Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, said: “The launch of ‘Customs e-Mazad’ highlights Qatar’s commitment to harnessing digital innovation as a central pillar of national development and economic diversification, in alignment with the goals of the Digital Agenda 2030. The ‘Customs e-Mazad’ platform combines cutting-edge technology with robust security measures, contributing to the goals of the Third National Development Strategy, which aims to digitise 90% of citizen services by 2030, and enhance the country’s digital infrastructure by providing a user-friendly platform that will enhance transparency, efficiency, and participation in customs auctions for businesses and individuals alike through implementing the latest smart automation technologies, advanced data analytics and integration with key national systems”.

Mr. Hassan Ali Al Nuaimi, Customs Advisor and head of the Electronic Auction Platform Team at the General Authority of Customs, said: “‘Customs e-Mazad’ represents a significant leap forward in Qatar’s customs operations, enabling the General Authority of Customs to enhance efficiency and transparency in the customs auction process through the implementation of cutting-edge technology. By automating the entire auction process—from product evaluation to secure payment processing—we are not only reducing operational costs but also making it easier than ever for Qatari residents and businesses to access customs auctions. This platform perfectly aligns with Qatar’s broader digital transformation goals and will play a pivotal role in the future of our country’s customs operations.”

A key feature of the platform is an admin portal that enables the General Authority of Customs to prepare, manage, and oversee each stage of the auction cycle—from product evaluation to the automated listing of goods to secure payment processing. It also offers advanced analytics tools, enhancing operational oversight and data-driven decision-making, enabling more efficient auction strategies and improved management of both financial and user-related data.

Businesses and individuals can participate in upcoming auctions through the “Customs e-Mazad” platform, by registering using a valid Qatar ID and logging in through the National Authentication System (Tawtheeq), which helps ensure a safe and secure bidding environment. Auction participants will benefit from a user-friendly website and mobile application, where they can browse goods, place bids, and complete transactions securely. Once registered, users can manage their participation on the platform by adding items to a wish list, receiving notifications for new auctions, viewing their transaction history, and tracking interactions.
