As part of its continuous efforts to enhance the digital ecosystem and support innovation and entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is preparing to participate in Web Summit Qatar 2025, scheduled to take place from February 23 to 26, 2025, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). The summit is expected to attract prominent global attendance, bringing together experts and industry leaders to discuss the latest advancements in technology and entrepreneurship, while highlighting Qatar’s leading role in fostering digital innovation and strengthening the startup ecosystem.
During the summit, MCIT will showcase three of its key programs supporting digital entrepreneurship and startups: the Digital Incubation Center, the TASMU Accelerator, and the recently launched Scale Now program. Additionally, 48 incubated startups will present their digital solutions to summit visitors, with 16 startups showcasing their innovations daily.
The summit will also feature four Masterclasses that explore the latest trends in technology and entrepreneurship. These sessions will include discussions on the MCIT’s Digital Skills Framework, which highlights the importance of standardizing digital skills in Qatar and their role in workforce development and professional advancement. Another session, “Role of AI and IoT in Enhancing Human Life”, will examine how artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are being leveraged to develop smart cities, improve healthcare, and enhance quality of life. Additionally, the “AI: Savior or Saboteur? Navigating AI’s Perils and Promises” session will delve into the ongoing debate on the opportunities and challenges of AI, focusing on its ethical and security implications. The Masterclass series will conclude with “Enabling Innovation: Qatar’s Thriving Startup Ecosystem”, which will explore global best practices in entrepreneurship, fundraising strategies, and scaling opportunities for startups in Qatar.
The summit will witness the announcement of a new partnership with a global Artificial Intelligence company aimed at fostering AI-driven innovation in key government sectors. This partnership seeks to integrate AI technologies into government functions to enhance decision-making efficiency and drive innovation in sectors such as transportation, education, healthcare, commerce, and tourism.
In line with its commitment to AI-driven innovation, MCIT in partnership with HBKU will also launch “Fanar” mobile application. The app will allow users to interact with advanced Arabic-language AI models, contributing to the growth of Arabic digital content.
As part of its engagement at the summit, MCIT will participate in high-level panel discussions featuring industry experts. Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Innovation at MCIT, will take part in a session titled “From the Caucasus to the Gulf: A New Hub for Digital Excellence”, alongside Mr. Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency of Azerbaijan, and Mr. Valery Krasovsky, CEO and Co-founder of Sigma Software. This session will highlight successful experiences in expanding into the Qatari market.
