The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through the TASMU Innovation Lab, organized a workshop titled “Technology Radar: Emerging Trends in Education,” as part of a series designed to track and assess emerging technologies in line with the objectives of the Digital Agenda 2030.
The workshop was attended by experts and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and various universities in Qatar. The sessions focused on identifying and prioritizing the most relevant emerging technologies and analyzing opportunities for their application within Qatar’s education system.
The workshop featured a comprehensive presentation on the methodology used to track and assess emerging technologies, with experts highlighting key global trends and their alignment with Qatar’s educational landscape. It also included interactive discussions to identify potential use cases and assess them using a prioritization matrix, thereby fostering collaboration in adopting the most impactful technologies to advance the education ecosystem.
Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, emphasized that the workshop aims to support stakeholders in the education sector in identifying and evaluating priority technologies and understanding their potential impact on the development of the education process. She noted that this initiative comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the use of technology in developing vital sectors in alignment with the goals of the Digital Agenda 2030.
She added:“The Education Technology Radar is a pioneering initiative that advances the future of education by leveraging emerging technologies to enhance the quality of education and strengthen the efficiency and sustainability of our educational institutions. The Radar serves as a strategic tool that enables decision-makers to adopt innovation in a well-informed manner, contributing to the development of an advanced digital education ecosystem, in alignment with the objectives of the Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030.”
In the next phase, a review process will be conducted in collaboration with a panel of experts to evaluate the proposed technologies and ensure their alignment with the needs of the education sector. The final results will then be announced to maximize the benefit from the outcomes, expand awareness of emerging educational technologies, and encourage their future application.
The launch of the Education Technology Radar follows the inaugural workshop held for the healthcare sector, marking another step in MCIT’s efforts to promote digital transformation across key sectors through the adoption of innovative solutions that enhance service quality and align with the objectives of the Digital Agenda 2030 and the Qatar National Vision 2030.
