The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the National Museum of Qatar, organized the 2025 Winter Camp, which took place from January 12 to 29, targeting three different age groups (7-10, 11-14, and 15-18 years). A total of 58 students participated in the camp, which focused on enhancing their understanding of artificial intelligence and its applications in climate action.
The program was designed to cater to the needs of each age group. The first week featured activities tailored for children aged 7 to 10, focusing on learning storytelling through the “Yarn Family” app, which provided them with the opportunity to express their creative ideas on sustainability and climate topics.
In the second week, which targeted the age group of 11 to 14 years, the activities focused on climate monitoring and predicting climate changes using AI technologies. This enabled participants to explore environmental data analysis tools, gaining a deeper understanding of the factors affecting climate change.
The Winter Camp concluded with its third week, dedicated to participants aged 15 to 18, where they engaged in an advanced experience using the “Flourish” application. This allowed them to transform climate data into visual designs, making it easier to interpret and interact with. These activities provided an opportunity to develop creative thinking and enhance data analysis skills among the participants.
The 2025 Winter Camp is one of MCIT’s key initiatives aimed at equipping Qatari youth with advanced digital skills and enhancing their ability to leverage AI in critical fields. These efforts are part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to developing national competencies in the technology sector and strengthening their readiness for the demands of the digital future.
As part of its efforts to promote learning and development opportunities, MCIT organized a Winter Camp earlier this year for students from University of Doha for Science and Technology. Additionally, preparations are currently underway to launch a new edition of the Winter Camp in February 2025, dedicated to students from Northumbria University in collaboration with the Qatar Finance and Business Academy. This initiative aims to further enhance students’ expertise in AI and digital technologies, equipping them for a future driven by innovation and technological advancement.
