HE Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, welcomed a high-level UK delegation led by HE Mr. Peter John Kyle, UK Secretary of State for Science, Innovation & Technology. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation between Qatar and the United Kingdom in the field of communications and information technology.
The discussions focused on fostering collaboration in artificial intelligence and digital transformation, cloud computing, data management, and workforce digital skills development. The meeting also explored the development of partnerships in digital innovation and entrepreneurship within the communications and information technology sector by exchanging expertise to encourage investment in startups. Additionally, the discussions focused on the importance of knowledge sharing and expertise exchange in the development of smart cities and sustainable digital infrastructure, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the UK Growth Agenda.
Attending from Qatar were Mr. Hassan Jassim Al Sayed, Minister’s advisor, and Artificial Intelligence Committee Chairman; Mr. Sami Al Shammari, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations Affairs; Mr. Hassan Yousuf Aldarbesti, Director of International Cooperation; and Mr. Faraj Jassim Abdulla, Director of the Digital Economy Department.
The UK delegation included Ms. Nicola Ruth Bartlett, Special Advisor; Ms. Benedetta Lorenza Eleanor Lacey, Deputy Director of International Strategy at the Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology; and Ms. Rasmia Khazna, Senior Private Secretary.
This meeting reaffirms the strong relations between the two countries, which have witnessed remarkable development over the past decade. The Qatar-UK partnership stands as a model for international cooperation in innovation, technology, and the digital economy.
