MCIT Holds Meeting with Members of U.S. Chamber of Commerce

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) held a roundtable meeting Yesterday with a high-level U.S. Chamber of Commerce delegation to discuss investment cooperation prospects and explore new partnership opportunities in the digital technology sector. The meeting, chaired by HE Mrs. Reem Al Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT, and Ms. Eman Ahmad Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, included representatives from leading American technology and communications companies and officials from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The discussions focused on strengthening economic relations between the two countries, exploring investment collaboration opportunities for businesses already operating in Qatar, and discussing strategies for attracting investors interested in entering the Qatari market. The meeting included an elite group of American business leaders from multinational companies, SMEs, and startups across various sectors, including finance, oil and gas, renewables, agriculture, food, water, infrastructure and construction, technology, healthcare, and transportation and logistics.

HE Mrs. Reem Al Mansoori emphasized the importance of this meeting and its role in enhancing communications and information technology cooperations between the two countries, encouraging investment in these areas, and presenting available opportunities. She said: “We are committed to enhancing cooperation in the field of communications and information technology with local and international partners to achieve sustainable development and stimulate the digital economy in line with the Digital Agenda 2030. These meetings reflect our commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and keeping pace with the latest developments in the global digital ecosystem”.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is preparing to participate in the fourth edition of the Qatar Economic Forum, held in collaboration with Bloomberg and Qatar Media City, from 14 – 16 May 2024, under the theme “A World Remade: Navigating the Year of Uncertainty”. The fourth edition is expected to host over 1000 government and corporate leaders, engaging in comprehensive and constructive dialogue about the local and international challenges facing economies and companies.
