The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), participated in the 27th session of the Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers (ATICM). The meeting took place in the UAE capital - Abu Dhabi on January 18. The meeting included the participation of various Arab ministers and officials.

The 27th session of ATICM focused on presenting the findings and suggestions derived from the gatherings of the Arab postal working groups, discussions on the Arab Strategy for Communications and Information, and considerations related to cybersecurity. Additionally, deliberations covered the results of the UPU 4th Extraordinary Congress held in Riyadh and the Arab Stamp Exhibition. The council issued a joint Arab postage stamp dedicated to Gaza. The meeting also delved into discussions regarding participation in Expo 2023 - Doha, along with strategies to strengthen collaborative initiatives among Arab entities, regional groups, organizations, and stakeholders in the field of communications and information technology.

Recognizing the importance of regional collaboration in ICT advancement, Mr. Hassan Jassim Al Sayed, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Head of the Qatari delegation, urged active participation in these meetings. He highlighted their potential to not only strengthen cooperation among member states but also accelerate the development of the ICT sector across the Arab world. Qatar, he noted, has prioritized supporting its digital infrastructure through a dynamic communications and information technology strategy aligned with both regional and global trends and the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Mr. Sayed commented on the positive outcomes of Qatar's participation, noting the valuable insights gained from other participating nations. Additionally, he pointed out that the involvement provided a platform to showcase Qatar's notable achievements in ICT sectors, including satellite communications, internet, and cybersecurity. This, in turn, contributes to maximizing the benefits derived from the ongoing digital progress in the region.

The Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers functions within the framework of the Arab League Council, intending to foster collaboration among member states. Its primary aim is to support the creation, advancement, and enhancement of communication and information technology infrastructure and services. Furthermore, it strives to promote the exchange of aid and technical cooperation among Arab countries.
