Overview
Qatar is dedicated to becoming a leading hub for emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), by driving digital innovation across all sectors. Recognizing the importance of AI, the Artificial Intelligence Committee was established under Cabinet Decision No. (10) of 2021, with Mr. Hassan Jassim Al Sayed appointed as chairman.
The Committee is at the forefront of advancing Qatar’s AI initiatives, aligning its efforts with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Digital Agenda 2030 to accelerate digital transformation. Its key responsibilities include implementing Qatar Artificial Intelligence Strategy, coordinating AI initiatives across government entities, and fostering the development of skilled AI professionals.
In addition to supporting emerging AI companies and research, the Committee builds international partnerships, tracks global advancements in AI, and represents Qatar in leading conferences and seminars. These efforts position Qatar as a proactive player in the global AI landscape while ensuring a sustainable and innovative future for the nation.
Artificial Intelligence Committee's Responsibilities
Qatar also has a dedicated National Artificial Intelligence Committee, which was established by MCIT under Cabinet Decision No. (10) of 2021 and includes representatives from various ministries and entities. The Committee's work is focused on integrating AI into various sectors and enhancing economic growth, with some key responsibilities, namely:
Developing mechanisms for the implementation of Qatar's Artificial Intelligence Strategy and overseeing its execution in coordination with the relevant ministries and entities within the state.
Overseeing the programmes and initiatives related to artificial intelligence launched by ministries and other relevant state entities, ensuring their delivery to relevant sectors, their execution, and subsequent review, in coordination with the concerned ministries and entities.
Formulating recommendations concerning plans and programmes for preparing human resources in the field of artificial intelligence applications, in coordination with relevant state entities.
Proposing activities and initiatives to support start-ups in the field of artificial intelligence and promote scientific research in this area.
Creating communication channels with international institutions and external specialised bodies, establishing frameworks for cooperation with them, and monitoring developments and updates in the field of artificial intelligence, in coordination with the relevant state entities.
Participating in local, regional, and international conferences and seminars related to artificial intelligence.
Preparing periodic reports on the progress of implementing Qatar's Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
Members
