Tuesday, February 03, 2026
  • Mowasalat (Karwa) will pilot the implementation of these solutions within its core transport operations.
  • The selected startups from the TASMU Accelerator will provide market-ready technology solutions.

TASMU Accelerator, an initiative of the TASMU Smart Qatar program under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), announced the selection of five proof-of-concept projects presented by four startups from the third cohort of the Accelerator, to be co-developed with Mowasalat (Karwa) the announcement was made offcially during Web Summit Qatar 2026.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, and Dr. Hamed Al Shaibani, Executive Director of the Information and Communications Technology Department at Mowasalat (Karwa). During the next phase, the practical viability of the solutions will be tested, their impact on operational efficiency will be measured, and digital transformation across Mowasalat’s core operations will be further advanced.

The selected projects include an advanced fuel optimization solution piloted on four buses within the operational fleet, in addition to the development of digital platforms for document management and contractor collaboration across engineering departments. The projects also include digital solutions for facilities management and fleet procurement operations, as well as a comprehensive e-permit solution for premises access control, and machine learning-integration within business applications and data infrastructure to support informed, data-driven decision-making.

In this context, Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Innovation at MCIT,  stated: “These proof-of-concept projects exemplify a core role of the TASMU Accelerator in enabling startups to test their technology solutions within real-world operational environments, in direct partnership with sector entities. This collaboration with Mowasalat reflects the Ministry’s commitment to connecting digital innovation with operational needs and translating innovative solutions into practical, scalable applications. These pilots contribute to accelerating the adoption of digital technologies, enhancing operational efficiency, and advancing digital transformation across vital sectors, in alignment with national priorities .”

Dr. Hamed Al Shaibani, Executive Director of ITC in Mowasalat (Karwa) commented: “Through our partnership with TASMU, Mowasalat is enabling innovation in smart mobility and sustainable transport by supporting international startups with real-world operational expertise and a live transport ecosystem. This collaboration accelerates scalable solutions that enhance efficiency, streamline operations, and deliver tangible CO₂ reductions across the transport sector.”

As part of the collaboration, TASMU Accelerator organized a series of introductory meetings and pitch sessions, during which startups presented their proposed technology solutions to specialized operational teams at Mowasalat. Following a structured evaluation process, five technology proposals were selected to advance to the pilot implementation phase, with the objective of validating their practical viability, measuring their impact on operational efficiency, and supporting digital transformation within the company’s core operations.
