The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed a framework agreement with Informatica during the MWC25 Doha. The agreement was signed by Mr. Sami Mohammed Al-Shammari, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and Mr. Yasser Shouki, Vice President for Emerging Markets in the Middle East and Africa at Informatica.
The signing of this agreement comes as part of the national effort to develop the country’s data ecosystem and strengthen the role of the State’s central database as a trusted source for informed decision-making. Informatica, a global leader in data management and governance, was selected as a strategic partner in coordination with the National Planning Council.
On this occasion, Mr. Sami Mohammed Al-Shammari, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations at the Ministry, stated:”Through the Infrastructure and Operations Sector, the Ministry is committed to developing the foundational pillars of the government’s digital ecosystem and enhancing the readiness of government entities to leverage data as a strategic resource for decision-making. We are working to improve data governance efficiency, advance data management and processing systems, and modernize the operational environments and supporting infrastructure, by adopting the latest technologies, innovative solutions, and building sustainable national capabilities.”
Mr. Ahmed Hassan Al-Obaidli, Director General of the National Statistics Center at the National Planning Council, emphasized that “this agreement aims to build an advanced governance layer that supports the central database by unifying national concepts and definitions, organizing data flows between government entities, and improving data quality and accuracy. It will also ensure data integration and consistency across systems, positioning the central database as a unified national reference and trusted source for official information and statistics. This contributes to accelerating the implementation of the National Data Strategy and establishing an integrated national data governance framework.”
He added that “this contract extends Qatar’s ongoing efforts to cement data as a national and sovereign asset, supporting the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy, and enhancing the quality of statistical outputs.”
Mr. Yasser Shouki, Vice President for Emerging Markets in the Middle East and Africa at Informatica, said:
