In celebration of National Sports Day under the theme “I Chose Sports,” the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) and the Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post), organized a sports event at Katara Hills, with wide participation from employees and partners, in an interactive and vibrant atmosphere.
The event featured a package of interactive sports activities conducted within outdoor spaces, including group fitness exercises, light sports competitions, and various physical activities aimed at encouraging active participation, strengthening team spirit, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Dedicated areas were allocated for families, along with spaces encouraging women’s participation, enabling all segments of the community to engage in the activities within an inclusive and motivating environment.
Digital tools were also practically integrated into the event to support participants’ engagement in sports activities, through the use of applications to measure physical activity, track performance, and encourage group challenges. This contributed to increased interaction and raised awareness of the importance of using digital solutions as supportive tools for sports participation and public health improvement.
In this context, Mr. Khalid Taiss Aljumaily, Public Relations and Communication Director at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, said: “Celebrating National Sports Day in collaboration with our partners reflects the importance of integration and joint action among government entities in supporting sports and promoting active lifestyles. The Ministry believes in the role of technology as an enabling tool that supports health and sports initiatives through digital solutions, contributing to increased participation and enhanced community engagement.”
Commenting on the occasion, Engineer Hussain Abdulla Salatt, Public Relations and Communication Manager at CRA, said: “At CRA, we affirm our commitment to contribute to promoting a healthy and connected lifestyle through developing regulatory instruments that drive digital transformation in the country, in which telecommunications and technology stand as two key elements for an active connected society.” He added: “This Day is a manifestation of Qatar’s vision of making sports an integral part of daily life, which we ensure to support through CRA’s strategy for developing the ICT sector in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030. We encourage everyone to embrace physical activity and utilize available digital solutions that enhance their sports experience and social connectivity, contributing to improving quality of life and maximizing the benefits of available digital advancements.”
The event also saw active participation from Qatar Post, reflecting its commitment to community initiatives and fostering a positive work environment. Aisha AlObaidli, Director of Communications and Marketing at Qatar Post, highlighted that collaboration with partners underscores the importance of joint efforts in the success of community-driven initiatives and the promotion of healthy, active lifestyles.
She added that National Sports Day provides a valuable opportunity for Qatar Post employees to step away from daily routines and connect in an open environment, noting Qatar Post’s commitment to ensuring that the event serves as a platform bringing together all employee segments, particularly drivers and field staff, while participating in activities that support well-being, team spirit, and institutional belonging.
This year’s theme, “I Chose Sports,” underscores the shift toward viewing sports as a conscious lifestyle choice and an effective tool for building a productive, active, and creative society, in line with the State of Qatar’s broader vision for health, well-being, and community development.
