The launch of Web Summit Qatar 2026 witnessed strong engagement by MCIT and the inauguration of its joint booth with the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in the first day of Web Summit Qatar 2026 through its joint booth with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the digital innovation ecosystem and reinforcing Qatar’s position as a regional hub for technology and entrepreneurship.
The first day saw strong attendance at MCIT’s booth by visitors, startup representatives, entrepreneurs, and international delegations, highlighting the growing interest in the initiatives and programs led by the Ministry in the fields of digital transformation and innovation. Through its pavilion, MCIT showcased a range of national initiatives and programs supporting digital transformation, in addition to digital solutions and projects that underscore its efforts to develop digital infrastructure, enable innovation, and strengthen the digital economy.
MCIT’s programme at theatre opened with a session titled “Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030: Building a Knowledge-Based Digital Economy”, which addressed ways to translate the Digital Agenda’s objectives into tangible outcomes in terms of jobs, skills development, and economic impact. The session also highlighted MCIT’s role in supporting this transformation through strategic pillars and national programs.
In parallel, the Ministry’s programme included masterclasses and panel discussions covering key themes related to digital policy, government innovation, artificial intelligence, and startup enablement, reflecting the Ministry’s focus on advancing emerging technologies and its role in driving innovation pathways and building an integrated digital ecosystem.
On the sidelines of WSQ, six agreements and strategic partnerships were signed between MCIT and several national and international entities. These included the launch of the Digital Transformation Roadmap for the Healthcare Sector in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, as well as the signing of an agreement with Oracle to expand the Government Dedicated Cloud Region and renew the support contract for the period 2025–2028. The agreements and partnerships also covered areas related to supporting innovation accelerators, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises, and developing digital solutions, further advancing digital transformation and innovation across several priority sectors.
In addition, Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, participated in a panel discussion titled “Sovereign AI: Building technology in a fragmented world”, held as part of Web Summit Qatar 2026. The session explored concepts related to sovereign AI, the importance of building flexible and scalable technology models, and the role of governance and neutral platforms in supporting organizations operating within rapidly evolving digital environments.
MCIT’s participation also included a number of official and bilateral meetings with international partners and entities, aimed at strengthening cooperation, exchanging expertise, and exploring future partnership opportunities in the fields of digital transformation and innovation.
MCIT’s participation in Web Summit Qatar 2026 aligns with Qatar’s efforts to advance digital innovation and accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies, particularly in artificial intelligence and digital transformation, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, and in support of achieving the objectives of Digital Agenda 2030.
