MCIT Participates in Arab e-Government Programme Directors Meeting

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in the Tenth Arab e-government programme directors meeting organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) at the United Nations House in Beirut on November 14 -15, in conjunction with the governmental meeting of Committee on Technology for Development.

MCIT was represented in the meeting by Ms. Mashael Ali Al Hammadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Information Technology Affairs at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, via video calling (online).

The meeting focus on the initiatives of the Arab countries in the field of digital government programmes and coordination on related policies and measures in the Arab region, in addition to discussing the challenges facing national digital government programmes, opportunities for joint efforts in developing these programmes, and best practices in the implementation of digital government transformation, as well as presenting ESCWA activities in the field of evaluation National digital development.

During her participation in the session on the initiatives of the Arab member states in government digital transformation within the e-government directors’ meeting, Ms. Mashael Ali Al Hammadi reviewed the achievements of the Qatar digital government strategy as well as the projects and programs launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to accelerate the process of digital transformation in Qatar.

In the same context, Mrs. Maitha Mubarak Al-Jabr Al-Nuaimi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the affairs of the Office of the President of the Supreme Judiciary Council, reviewed the digital transformation projects in the judicial system, including the electronic litigation system "Al Mahakem", which enhanced the quality of procedures and contributed to supporting the speedy settlement of cases, which reached 94% during 2022.

During the meeting, the file of  "Qatar Education" application which was launched by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) in January 2022 to automate the educational process and support the process of digital transformation in education was shared to add the file of "Qatar Education " application in the report issued by ESCWA.

Commenting on the participation in the Tenth Arab e-government programme directors meeting, Ms. Mashael Al Hammadi said: "The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is keen to participate in regional and international meetings and events with the aim of exchanging expertise and experiences in everything related to the telecommunications sector, digital transformation and digital technology, as well as reviewing Qatar's pioneering experiences in this field.

"The MCIT, through the Qatar e-Government Strategy, launched several programs in the field of digital transformation, and many achievements have been made that contribute to supporting and enhancing the efficiency of government work, as well as advancing the digital economy in the country. We are pleased to share these achievements with those responsible for e-government programs in The Arab world and with ESCWA officials in an effort to cooperate more at the Arab level in the digital transformation sector.” Ms. Mashael Al Hammadi added.
