His Excellency Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said “Since the State of Qatar won the bid to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, the telecommunications sector in the State of Qatar has developed plans and implemented national projects that contribute to supporting the country's efforts in achieving its goals and providing the best services to participants and fans, making their visit to the State of Qatar an exceptional event".

His Excellency the minister mentioned that the Ministry, in partnership with telecommunications service providers, has worked together to develop and expand the infrastructure of its communications networks to improve their efficiency while increasing their absorptive capacity. Along with introducing the 5G technology. Furthermore, the networks of government and sports agencies, especially stadiums, have been strengthened with high-speed fiber-optic networks, to provide the best services during the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

We have also developed the capabilities of the Communications Regulatory Authority to monitor and manage the frequency spectrum, by developing monitoring and management systems that identify and reduce any source of interference on frequencies and satellite broadcasts, to ensure the best quality of communication services and audio-visual broadcasting services. By the requirements of FIFA, an automatic detection system for unmanned aerial vehicles (Drones) was built, to enable the Authority to monitor drones to protect communications networks from unauthorized radio emissions.

As for the media coverage, the Communications Regulatory Authority partnered with various entities to provide satellite communications channels that enable international media institutions to broadcast events live all around the world. Terrestrial broadcast stations and technical support teams for international media companies and institutions are present, with additional television channel frequencies ensuring continuity of broadcasting, which will not be interrupted during the hosting of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022.

The Ministry has also empowered cloud computing and emerged technology such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and data science to develop applications and platforms aimed at improving the operational efficiency of vital sectors in the country. For instance, the transportation sector, where integrated systems were built to integrate the data of agencies in the field of transportation. In addition to the use of emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence to analyze data and utilize it to improve operational efficiency in the transportation sector during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, makes these systems the cornerstone of building a smart transportation sector.

In addition, many platforms and applications have been developed, which depend on emerging technology and the Internet of Things, for instance, a smart parking platform which works through an electronic application provided to drivers by showing multiple destinations in the country with instant data on the availability of parking lots. Which in return will reduce traffic congestion and harmful environmental effects.

Thanks to the advanced technology that was used in all fields in the country, carbon emissions will be reduced during the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In order to provide the best services, the Qatar Government Contact Center operating under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will direct all the fans inquiries regarding the “Hayya” platform and program during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 that have to do with housing, transportation, tickets and other matters of interest to participants and fans which will provide the necessary support to solve any issue they might be facing, and the center will provide its services in different languages through multiple channels.

In conclusion, His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology expressed his confidence that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be one of the best tournaments, thanks to the great preparations and types of equipment in which digital solutions and technology were used, which will contribute to the success that will contribute to enhancing the country's digital economy.
